How I’m making the switch to clean beauty

Why Clean Beauty Matters

As I get older I’m becoming more and more aware of the products I use daily. Especially when it comes to skincare. It’s so important to know the ingredients in the products you choose to use on your skin. As with most things in life, less is definitely more. There’s pretty much zero government oversight when it comes to packing beauty and skincare products full of toxic and not-good-for-you ingredients. So what are the ingredients to look out for? Here are a few red flag ingredients: parabens, phthalates, PEGs, ethanolamines, chemical sunscreens, synthetic fragrance, BHT, and BHA. Want to know how you can make the switch to clean beauty products? Keep reading below.

How to Make the Switch

Start by going through all of your skincare and beauty products. Take a good look at each label and the ingredients. Google is your friend during this investigation. Don’t know what one ingredients is? Google it. More than likely if you don’t know what it is, then it isn’t good.

After you’ve done a product overhaul and beauty shelf clean-out, it’s time to choose some new brands!

Shortlist Beauty

Let’s start with what Shortlist doesn’t have: parabens, sulfates, colorants, fragrances, phthalates, and mineral oils.

With just 11 ingredients in the serum and 9 in the cream, you can feel confident in knowing exactly what is going on your face. Since there aren’t any fillers the ingredients listed are there to get to work on your skin! Helping to minimize wrinkles, smooth your skins texture, and even your skin tone.

Serum

I use the serum day and night after cleansing and absolutely love it. It absorbs quickly and pairs perfectly with the Shortlist cream. The three key ingredients here are: niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and glycerin. They’ll work together to boost collagen production and increase moisture!

Retinol in a moisturizer!? Yaaaaaas! After applying my serum I use the Shortlist cream morning and night. This bad boy will help diminish fine lines and wrinkles, smooth skin, and increases cell turnover. Which means you’ll be glowing in no time, and all with clean ingredients.

Like any pair, these two work best together. But you can always start out with one! I highly recommend making the switch to clean products. From house hold supplies, what you eat, and the skincare and beauty products you use every day, it is so important. Shortlist gently delivers hardworking ingredients minus the irritation – a great option for anyone seeking clean beauty products, particularly for those with sensitive skin. Here’s to clean beauty in 2018! To learn more about Shortlist, click here.
