So much of how productive my day will be is based on how my morning starts off. This year I’ve really been focusing on sticking to a morning routine to make everything go a little more seamless in the early hours of the day. How to start your day off right in five easy steps!
Step 1: Avoid the one eyed scroll
This was probably my toughest habit to break this year when setting into a morning routine. Literally each morning I’d wake up and grab my phone from my night stand and start with the one eyed scroll. Unfamiliar with the one eyed scroll? It’s that I just opened my eyes, but my phones to bright so I’ll scroll through my Instagram with one eyed open routine. Ring any bells? Trust me when I say this, YOU’RE NOT MISSING ANYTHING! The morning is you time, not phone time. The emails can wait, the DM’s can wait, and the texts can wait.
Step 2: Start your morning off being grateful
Attitude of gratitude is a must if you want to be successful in life. Even being thankful for the smallest thing can change how you perceive life at this moment. If you don’t have a journal or notepad on your nightstand, or don’t have a nightstand, no problem. Say it out loud, under your breathe, or in your head. Just say it. Begin the sentences like this: “I am so happy and grateful now that I am…” Watch your attitude and peace of mine change.

Step 5: Don’t check your emails until after your first coffee!
This is a game changer, for real. This goes hand in hand with avoiding the one eyed scroll. Wait until you’ve finished your first cup of coffee until you dive into your emails. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve replied to emails half asleep, later realizing all of my spelling mistakes when I check my sent folder. Give yourself some time to wake up before you put yourself in work mode!
