One of my goals this year is to really focus on getting my hair back to a healthy state. I took almost a year off of having my hair dyed to give it a much needed break. I remember the first time I went to see a hair stylist, I think I was around 12. She put two bleach blonde streaks framing my face. Well that was it, I was hooked.
People from my high school used to say, “I can only tell which grade we were in by the color of Nikki’s hair in the photos.” I would dye my hair by season, by mood, or if there was some major change that happened in my life. Going through a bad breakup? Let’s dye my hair black. Oh summer is here? Let’s go bleach blonde. And the cycle continued until I reached 25 and my hair felt rubbery and couldn’t take it anymore. It was time for a change. Not in hair color, but how I treated my hair.
I’ve tested more products than I can count these last few months and I already have two favorites: L’Oréal® Paris Elvive Total Repair 5 Protein Recharge Treatment and L’Oréal Paris Elvive Damage Repair Balm. These two have worked wonders since using them consistently these last couple of weeks.
These two products were selected for me after taking the “How Damaged is Your Hair Quiz?” on the L’Oréal website. You can take the test HERE to see which products are best for your hair! I was shocked to find out my hair damage was only at Level 1! (Must’ve been all of the treatments, and taking a break from coloring my hair!)
Total Repair 5 Protein Recharge Treatment
I always use this treatment when I know I’m going to be using my straightener or curling wand. It adds protection to my hair to help with the damaging effects of using heated tools. Thankfully it protects up to 450 degree heat, which is amazing! I also love that it’s a non-greasy leave in conditioner!
Elvive Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm
The name says it all on this one, it literally erases damage. For whatever reason, ever since we made the move back to New York from Los Angeles my hair has been noticeably drier. Cold? Air? Stress? Who knows, but I’m not a fan. This balm leaves my hair feeling stronger and healthier every time I use it.
You can find these products at your local CVS! Even better, CVS will be offering peel and reveal events at their top 700 stores nationwide, and beauty consultants will be there to help! Find a participating CVS near you HERE. The in-store events will be taking place between March 8th and March 11th.
Depending on what level of damage you have these two products are also amazing!
Elvive Extraordinary Oil
This is also a great treatment for dry hair! It will leave your hair feeling soft and silky smooth.
Elvive Color Vibrancy Repair and Protect Balm
If you color treat you hair often then this balm is what you need. Especially if you find your hair looking dull and need those vibrant locks back!
Here’s to healthy and happy hair!
