I received compensation from Dr. Scholl’s® to write this post. All opinions are entirely my own.
New York Fashion Week is right around the corner and the anxiety/excitement is real. I attended my first New York fashion week last September and it was everything I had dreamed of and more. Since we pushed back our move date from LA to NYC until early next year, I jumped at the chance to be back in NYC if even only for the week.
Fact: Fashion week isn’t as glamorous as people make it out to be.
Your days are long, schedules packed, and it’s humid out. But it’s worth it, and by the end of the week you wouldn’t want it any other way.
I’m sharing my top three survival tips to get you through fashion week!
1. Make sure you wear shoes that you can walk in all day
Let’s be honest, no one has time to be changing shoes after every show. I see people changing out of sneakers before heading into the building, but I really don’t want to be carrying around my sneakers all day.
I rely heavily on my Dr.Scholl’s Stylish Step™ Heel Liners as well as Stylish Step™ Clear Cushioning Insoles for Flats. Honestly, it was a game changer during fashion week. Even better, no one can tell you are using them! I was able to run from show to show while looking great and being comfortable. I have a pretty high arch so flats tend to give me more trouble than heels do. Especially walking through New York’s cobblestone streets, you really need something that will absorb shock and provide some cushioning for the ball of your foot.
There’s nothing worse than missing the last few shows of the day because your feet hurt. You can find Dr.Scholl’s Stylish Step™ at your nearest Target in the footcare aisle near the pharmacy. Right now Target is offering a Cartwheel promotion for Stylish Step™, find out more here.
2. Stay hydrated
This should be a no brainer. Hydration is key to making it through a 10 hour+ day in NYC humidity. Yes I was that girl going to shows with her S’well bottle. Trust me, bring a bottle and make sure it stays full! My first day at fashion week I didn’t bring a water bottle and literally felt light headed the whole day. The lines are long and the last thing you want is to miss the beginning of a show or lose your seat.
3. Be nice to EVERYONE
All too often we go through the day not really noticing the people around us, and the same goes for NYFW. Everyone is in a rush, everyone is anxious, and everyone is sweaty. That doesn’t mean you can’t take time out of your busy schedule to stop and say hi and smile! You never know who you are sitting next to! Who knows, you might meet your next bff, create a relationship with a brand, or find someone to collaborate with!
