Vancouver in a day
Vancouver is my hometown for those of you who didn’t know. I sadly haven’t been back in quite a while, but my husband was recently there for work(so jealous). He basically had a full 24 hours of free time to explore, shop, and most importantly EAT. VanCity has some amazing restaurants and a great bar scene. It was hard to pick out Scha’s itinerary for his day in Vanity, but I narrowed down my top picks. Thanks to my man for taking some amazing photos of my favorite spots that I miss so much!
COFFEE AND WIFI: REVOLVER COFFEE
325 Cambie St, Vancouver, BC V6B 1H7, Canada
This was my go to spot back home. Service is amazing and all of the staff are so knowledgable when comes to coffee. It’s a bit of a hipster haven, but in a good way. Minimalist decor and serious west coast vibes, while serving up one of the best latte’s in Van.
SHOPPING AFTER BREAKY: OAK + FORT
#355 Water Street, Vancouver, British Columbia V6B 1B8
While OAK + FORT may have locations in the USA, nothing beats their new-ish gas town location. I had to send Scha there so I could live vicariously through him, and for him to also doing some shopping for me, duh. I love the simplicity of the designs Oak + Fort create. Timeless and modern at the same time. If you can’t make it to one of their brick + mortar locations then do some cyber shopping here.
LUNCH TIME: MEAT & BREAD
370 Cambie St, Vancouver, BC V6B 2N3, Canada
Meat. Enough said. This restaurant is the sandwich mecca of Vancouver. It is the holy grail of meat and bread, literally. The lines are ridiculous, the sandwiches are mouth watering, and the house made condiments are life. This was my number one for Scha. I think I said something along the lines of: ” if you don’t go to Meat & Bread, I literally won’t talk to you.” Yes it was a little dramatic, but if you have tasted what these guys are putting out you would get it.
I have one word for you : PORCHETTA.
This is the top selling sammy on their menu, and for good reason. Porchetta is a fatty and delicious boneless pork roast, and they are doing it right at Meat & Bread. Instead of using the whole pig, they only roast the loin and belly low and slow, and then blast it with heat to get that crispy skin. It’s full of flavor, mouth watering, and unbelievably delicious. Go there. Now.
SHOPPING BREAK: HEY JUDE SHOP
315 Abbott St, Vancouver, BC V6B 0G6, Canada
I can’t claim credit for this little gem. The ladies over at Oak + Fort insisted he stop by this little shop. He fell in love with the decor and overall design of the space, and so have I! Hey Jude Shop opened up their first Brick and Mortar in the fall of 2015 after having hosted various pop up shops over the years. After perusing his photos and checking out their online store I am already a huge fan. The contemporary vintage pieces and little objects and leather goods scattered throughout the store make me want to hop on a plane and shop till I drop. Oh, and can anyone say #PLANTGOALS.
PRE-FLIGHT DRANKS: POURHOUSE
162 Water St, Vancouver, BC V6B 1B2, Canada
This was another one of my usual haunts in Van. Post work drinks were a must here. Negronis, a must. Their craft cocktails never fails, and the food menu is ridic. All of it, so good. The ambience is laid back cool, with a little sexy, and a little don draper. Come for a cocktail, stay for dinner.
There you have it! VanCity in a day. I hope you guys hit up some of the spots on your next trip 😉
